Science and Global Perspectives Curriculum Overview

Science & Global Perspectives Curriculum

Naturally embedded in any academic curriculum are community building themes that align with GHCDS’ core values. In all subjects we integrate character, values, respect for self and others, and the responsibility children have as members of the community. In addition to that, we are implementing Cambridge’s Global Perspectives framework. “Cambridge Primary Global Perspectives develops transferable skills that support learners in their studies and in their everyday life. Learners develop skills through age-appropriate and engaging activities that are based on a broad range of topics. They explore personal, local and global perspectives to make sense of, and feel connected to, the world around them.”

We will be incorporating all Next Generation Grade 4 Science Standards into our curriculum. We do so through the online platform- Mystery Science. The Science Units are as follows:

  • Human Machine: Human Body, Vision, & the Brain

  • The Birth of Rocks: Earth’s Features & Processes

  • Waves of Sound: Sound, Waves, & Communication

  • Energizing Everything: Energy, Energy Transfer, & Electricity
